  14.     I was 
  15. coming back with a friend from a trip to eastern Washington, 
  16. and I dropped h
  17. im off on California Way and the north end of Alki 
  18. looking towards the North 
  19. [across Elliott Bay toward Magnolia] when I 
  20. saw this object.  The object was o
  21. n its side; its manuevers were so 
  22. weird.  I saw 3 lights going around and ar
  23. ound.  It was low, maybe 500 
  24. feet up.  
  25.  
  26. Q.  Did your friend see the object 
  27. too?
  28.  
  29.      No.  My friend was asleep in the car and he had had a long trip 
  30. s
  31. o I didn't want to wake him.  He was pretty sleepy when I dropped him 
  32. off so 
  33. I didn't mention seeing the UFO.
  34.  
  35. Q.  What did the object look like?
  36.  
  37.      It 
  38. was on its side, like a plate on its side.  I'd seen it when 
  39. it turned, like a frisbee, it 
  40. went up and down, around and around, and 
  41. then up and down.  It was a very li
  42. ght night that night.  The moon 
  43. might have been out.  [The moon was in fact 
  44. out and was in its last 
  45. quarter.]  The stars were really bright that night.

  48. Q.  What were you doing when you first saw the object?
  49.  
  50.     I was driving o
  51. n I-5, and I had just exited and was driving across 
  52. the West Seattle bridge, 
  53. when I first saw the object.  I saw it again 
  54. when I drove up California Way from Alki 
  55. Drive [actually this highway 
  56. is Harbor Way, the road becomes Alki Avenue aft
  57. er it passes Duwamish 
  58. Head].  I couldn't see it again until I drove up the h
  59. ill on 
  60. California Way because of the trees.  After I dropped off my friend I 
  61.  
  62. stopped at the park [Hamilton Viewpoint Park] but by the time I got 
  63. there i
  64. t had vanished.
  65.  
  66.     It had green, red, and violet lights.  The green and red 
  67. lights 
  68. were more visible but the other light looked like it was mixed with 
  69. the other colo
  70. rs, kind of soft like.  The object was darker than the 
  71. background, what with 
  72. the reflection from the lights along the outline 
  73. of the Sound.  It was basic
  74. ally a dark shape with lights.  It was out 
  75. over Puget Sound, closer to Alki 
  76. than to Magnolia.  It was on its 
  77. side, up about 500 feet.

  79. Q.  What was your 
  80. first reaction to seeing the object?
  81.  
  82.     I was trying to determine if it was 
  83. an airplane or a helicopter 
  84. but even a helicopter couldn't make those kind of manue
  85. vers.  First it 
  86. made a sideways step motion:  sideways then forward, sideway
  87. s then 
  88. forward, sideways then forward.  Then it bounced up and down like a 
  89.  
  90. basketball.  Then it repeated the step motion three more times, 
  91. followed by 
  92. the up-and-down motion like a basketball.  It never 
  93. repeated this sequence f
  94. or the same length of time.  It made it look 
  95. like a streak in the air, like 
  96. a welding torch in color.  It was disk 
  97. or plate shaped, and seemed thin.

  99.     It also stopped, in t
  100. he air, sideways, and I could see the lights 
  101. going around the rim (3 lights)
  102. .  Whenever it bounced like a 
  103. basketball the lights stopped moving in a circ
  104. ular motion.  Then it would 
  105. turn on its side and move in the step motion.  I 
  106. would guess that its 
  107. width was about a car length (a small import car).  The 
  108. motion it made 
  109. really looked like the "blip" tracings you see on a heart mon
  110. itor 
  111. [oscilloscope].

  113. Q. How did you lose sight of it?
  114.  
  115.     Once I drove into t
  116. he park I could see it and then it was gone.  
  117. Like it disappeared.  That rea
  118. lly surprised me.  I was thinking, 
  119. "Where the hell did it go?"
  120.  
  121. Q. How much 
  122. sleep had you had?
  123.  
  124.     Well, I had slept for 3 hours at a rest area.  We lef
  125. t eastern 
  126. Washington at 3 p.m.  We had stopped along the way so we had had a 
  127. 5-6 
  128. hour drive plus sleeping.  The trip took a total of 11 hours.
